Think Outside the Mall for Unique Holiday Gifts in Long Beach

From local artisans to local history, the gift shops of attractions like El Dorado Nature Center or MoLAA offer an array of items that showcase Long Beach’s best.

Rancho Los Alamitos, 6400 Bixby Hills Road: The Gift Shop features the work of local artists. Visitors will find decorative tiles, Bauer pottery, jewelry and apparel, as well as items created in the Rancho’s blacksmith shop. The shop carries books on local history, gardening, and cooking. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 1-5 pm.
Rancho Los Cerritos, 4600 North Virginia Road: Browse through the Museum Shop for a variety of books on California history, gardens and the Victorian era. Specialty items include note cards, jams made from the garden’s bounty, handmade scented soaps and pressed flower candles. For children, the Gift Shop carries old-time toys, including La Grace, Hoops, tin whistles and marbles as well as a wide array of books. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 1-5 pm.
El Dorado Nature Center, 7550 E. Spring St.: The Bookstore offers a wide array of merchandise, including T-shirts with nature images for both children and adults, handmade jewelry, sarongs, wind chimes, nature-themed books, field guides and soaps. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 am to 4 pm.
Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine gift certificates: Just in time for the holidays, these gift certificates are redeemable for classes, facility reservations and El Dorado Regional Park parking passes. The certificates can be sold in any amount and are available at the Parks, Recreation and Marine Registration / Reservations Office in El Dorado Park, 2760 Studebaker Road, during regular office hours: Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm.
