Uptown Dog Park opens in 8th District

uptown-dog-parkYet another Long Beach dog park will open this weekend. The Uptown Dog Park will provide separate areas for small and large dogs to play off leash in Scherer Park.

Councilwoman Rae Gabelich and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine invite the public to attend the opening of the Uptown Dog Park on Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. Uptown Animal Hospital will donate dog treats, clean-up bags and other items for the opening ceremony.

“I am excited about this new opportunity for residents to be able to come to Scherer Park to play with their dog, relax and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors,” said 8th District City Councilmember Rae Gabelich.

Uptown Dog Park is located at the western end of Scherer Park, 4600 Long Beach Boulevard. The fenced area is located near picnic areas and a parking lot. It will be open daily from 5:00 a.m. to dusk; regular park hours are 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
