Upward Bound Provides Services For Long Beach and Signal Hill Youth

graduation-Upward BoundUpward Bound is a college preparatory program that assists 165 eligible high school students in graduating from high school, entering college and successfully earning their baccalaureate degree. Upward Bound provides a variety of services to local Long Beach youth who are low-income, at-risk for not graduating high school and typically would be the first generation in their families to attend college.

Services include the following: Summer Residential Program, Mentor Program, Academic Tutoring, College Visitation Trips, Saturday Academy, Service Learning Hours Opportunities, Fundraising, Team Building Activities and Parent Support Group.

Eligible youth must be 17-18 years old, live in Long Beach or Signal Hill, have a determined WIA barrier, and meet WIA income eligibility requirements.

The Long Beach Opportunity Studio provides youth new opportunities for employment through FREE technology training in digital photography, audio and video creation, website design, and computer support training.
