There will be no disruptions to Port operations, but customers, employees and neighbors are likely to witness unusual activities as early as Monday, May 17. You may hear sirens and see a large number of emergency response and military vehicles as well as vessels and helicopters.
The drills are part of an annual preparedness program called “Port Protector” and participating agencies include the Port of Long Beach, Long Beach police and fire departments, Port of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Fire, L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, California Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Security and safety are a priority for the Port, and being prepared is an important part of emergency response. The Port is collaborating fully with U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies to ensure the security of the public, its employees and customers.
