Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services to Host Veterans Forum

The City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services is hosting a Veterans Forum on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Alpert Jewish Community Center at 3801 E. Willow Ave, Long Beach, CA 90815. The event will provide education regarding current veteran issues in the Long Beach community. The three topics to be covered are:
- Women in the Military
- Veterans and Families
- Veterans and Homelessness
Collaborative partners include California 54th District Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, VA Long Beach Healthcare System, Jewish Family and Children Services, Retire Senior Volunteer Programs, United States Veterans Initiative, CSULB Student Veterans Program, Memorial Counseling Associates, Mental Health America Homeless Assistance Program, National Alliance for Mental Illness, Long Beach chapter and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
This forum is being funded in partnership with County of Los Angeles Supervisor Don Knabe, 4th District, City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, Homeless Veterans Initiative Program.
The event is free and open to the public to the first 250 people. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered for a fee of $15.00. To preregister for CEUs, please contact Patti LaPlace, Mental Health Coordinator at 562.216.1966 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
