Vilma Diaz and La Sonora Set to Entertain at Festival Latino in September

Festival Latino, Long Beach Latin Gay Pride is coming to Long Beach, on Saturday, September 22, 2012 and this years’ musical headliner is Vilma Diaz and La Sonora.
Vilma Diaz “Cumbia Diva”, is a renowned Colombian cumbia singer who in 1989 entered as a leading voice recording and presentations of the famous Colombian group La Sonora Dinamita.
In 1993 recorded the song “Escandalo” which immediately became an international hit. This musical success granted recognition as “The Diva of Cumbia” besides those previously received by the group; her band continues singing this cumbia classic song and other top hits like “Mi CuCu”, “Capullo y Sorullo”, “Mil Horas” and more.
Since 2006, she formed her own group, Vilma Diaz y La Sonora. In 2011, she launched her promotional single “The Monument”, with immediate success and it currently occupies the top radio stations in Central and South America.
Festival Latino is an annual event, honoring National Hispanic Heritage Month and the Latin LGBTQ Community. This cultural celebration will honor the traditions of the Latin community as well as empower those that attend with the ever essence of unity. The festival will showcase inspiring music and dance performances; food, general merchandise, information and vending booths; and include various games and activities for members of our community. This event is expected to attract thousands of spectators from the Greater Long Beach area bringing accord and harmony through out the day.
Festival Latino, Long Beach Latin Gay Pride takes place Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The day-long festival is held at the Marina Green Park on Shoreline Drive, 9.4 acres of parkland overlooking the picturesque Long Beach coast. This event will benefit California Families in Focus (CFF), a 501 c3 organization that serves the needs of families and children in the Long Beach area. California Families in Focus is known for their many charitable events such as; the annual Spirit of Christmas Brunch, which serves over 700 children and families during the holiday season. They are committed to serving the community with leadership development, gang prevention, youth advocacy, youth mentoring, health/nutrition programs, conferences and workshops.
