The next Willow Springs Park tour (formerly California Gardens) is scheduled for Saturday, October 20th, 2012. The monthly tour is led by volunteers and focus on the history, wildlife, plants, and new developments of this exciting property.

“The need for recreation opportunities and open space continues to grow in northern, central, and western portions of Long Beach,” says Councilmember James Johnson. “Willow Springs Park is an opportunity to develop over 40 acres of City-owned land into a natural oasis the whole region can enjoy. After more than 100 years of City ownership, the time has come to start opening this property to the public to enjoy this natural open space in the middle of our city.”

The first four acres of Willow Springs Park will officially open on November 1st. The park is located at the highest accessible point in Long Beach, offering a 270-degree view of the Pacific Ocean to Palos Verdes to the mountains and Downtown Los Angeles.

The monthly tour is held every 3rd Saturday of the month and is free and open to the public. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are on a leash at all times. Come see for yourself what everyone is talking about.

The next Willow Springs Park tour is Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at 10:00am. Willow Springs Park is located at 2745 Orange Ave., Long Beach.
