Wrigley River Run Takes Off Saturday, June 6

Run a flat, fast course through Wrigley Village and along the L.A. River bike path in the Long Beach Neighboorhood Foundation’s 2nd Annual Wrigley River Run 5K/10K and Tadpole Trot on Saturday June 6, 2009.
Last year’s Wrigley River Run was the focus of most of LBNF’s energies for 2008. The event drew many runners of all ages and backgrounds. The Long Beach business community also supported the River Run, with race sponsors including Buono’s Pizzeria, Road Runner Sports, and many others.
Pre-walk packets can be picked up at Holy Innocents Church (2500 Pacific Ave., Long Beach 90806) Friday June 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday June 6, 2009 beginning at 6 a.m.
Registration opens at 6 a.m. the day of the Run. The 5k begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 10K kicks off at 8:15 a.m. The Tadpole Trot (1K) starts at 9:30 a.m.
The Wrigley River Run Awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each of 14 age divisions as well as special awards to the overall male and female winners for both the 5K and 10K. Ribbons will be presented to each child that participates in the Tadpole Trot 1K. Winners must be present to claim their award. Awards will not be mailed. All registered runners will receive a high quality short sleeve 100% cotton race t-shirt. Some sizes are limited and exact sizes are not guaranteed.
Ample parking is available at Wrigley Marketplace at Willow Street and Long Beach Boulevard, a short walk to the start line.
