Contribute to Everything Long Beach
Writing an article for Everything Long Beach is a way to get exposure for yourself, your business or your organization. Becoming a contributing author allows you to showcase your talent to a new audience, expand your readership and make new relationships online. Everything Long Beach has a large local readership that spans all districts and neighborhoods of the city.
Contributing Authors
All Contributing Authors on EverythingLongBeach.com receive a byline as well as a short bio that includes a link back to your own website or email. In addition, you will have an “Author’s Page” to highlight your work on our site — add it to your portfolio or point prospective customers to “your” page to show your industry expertise. Author pages feature your bio or a description of your company, a photo, and your contact information.
Contributors interested in reviewing plays or other events may also be eligible to have their ticket paid for. Please contact us in advance to make arrangements.
We work hard to promote you online. We will share and promote your articles on our social media network which includes Facebook, Twitter and a large daily email newsletter.
Regular Contributors
We are looking to add several Regular Contributors in 2011, and encourage interested individuals to apply. Contributors are brought in on a voluntary basis and although we don’t offer remuneration, Regular Contributors will be featured prominently on EverythingLongBeach.com. In addition to the aforementioned attribution with your article, Regular Contributors will also be listed on our upcoming Contributors Page with an extended bio, photo and the option of additional links to your social media accounts.
To become a regular contributor, authors must commit to contributing two articles per month.
Guest Contributors
We will consider individual article submissions on a case-by-case basis. Please submit the complete piece using the instructions below rather than sending a query letter by email. Note that if you are interested in becoming a Regular Contributor but can not currently commit to a regular schedule, submitting as a Guest Contributor is a great place to start.
What to Write About
Arts and Music, Theater Reviews, Green Living, Parenting, Beauty & Style, Crafts, Health & Fitness, Finance & Money, Business, Local Interviews, Neighborhood News, Schools & Education, Sports and more. If there is another topic that you’re interested in, then chances are our readers are too. Please feel free to make a suggestion!
What Do We Ask For?
The content must be original and not posted elsewhere on the Internet. In addition, we require exclusive publishing rights for the first month. After that, we reserve the right to archive the article indefinitely on a non-exclusive basis and you are free to re-post the content on your own blog or website.
We don’t like to set a strict word count, however, we suggest that submissions be between 250-750 words. If you have a particularly interesting topic with lots of details and information, feel free to create a series by splitting it into two or more articles.
Images are always appreciated. We love pictures! But, please make sure that you own the rights to post any photos you submit. This means that you either took the photo, or you have permission from the copyright holder to post the image online.
We’re looking for contributors with good writing skills and the ability to present their chosen topic in an interesting and entertaining way. As such, we place a high value on creativity — as long as it doesn’t preclude good grammar and correct punctuation. We reserve the right to edit articles for grammar, presentation or available space. However, we will not necessarily edit for any of these things so please be sure to proofread your work prior to submitting it.
Our goal is give the residents of Long Beach a voice and share the varied experiences of local residents, however, submission does not guarantee acceptance.
How to Submit an Article
To become a guest contributor, start by registering as a member of EverythingLongBeach.com here. Then, send an email to the editor requesting access to contribute at inf0 @ everythinglongbeach.com. Your membership will be upgraded to author status and you will receive an email with instructions for submitting your first article within 24-48 hours.
If you do not want to become a contributing author, you can submit a press release here. Note that press release submissions are not published with a byline or other attribution.
