Zoppé Family Circus Comes to Downtown Long Beach

The Carpenter Center at Cal State Long Beach is proud to present the Zoppé Family Circus in Downtown Long Beach for eight performances, October 7-10. Performances will be held under a colorful Circus tent at the corner of Broadway and Long Beach Blvd., adjacent to the Acres of Books building.
The Zoppé Family Circus will welcome guests into its intimate 500-seat tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best history of the Old-World Italian tradition. Starring Nino the Clown, the circus is propelled by a central story that features acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning, and plenty of audience participation.
Giovanni Zoppé, the sixth-generation circus performer who plays Nino, says the show aims beyond the more typical circuses of today. “When a kid imagines a circus, this is what they think of. It’s exactly the way it’s supposed to be. It’s like the circus was 100 years ago.” The Zoppé Family Circus is reminiscent of the one-ring European family circus of the 19th century, which was known for being an entertainment experience that amazed children and adults alike with its breathtaking stunts and astonishing acrobatics.
Bleacher tickets are $20, and a Family 4-pack is available for $70. A select number of Ring-Side tickets are available for $25. Performance will be Thu, Oct. 7 at 7pm; Fri, Oct. 8 at 8pm; and Sat – Sun, Oct. 9 – 10 at 1, 4 and 7pm. Two-hours free parking is available at City Place parking structure on 3rd Street, west of Long Beach Blvd. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased from the CSULB Arts Ticket Office at 562-985-7000. Show information, location map, and tickets are available online.
The Zoppé Family Circus is sponsored by the City of Long Beach, Arts Council for Long Beach, Long Beach Redevelopment Agency, City Place Shopping Center, and Anderson Pacific.
